Q-motion

Q-motion is consist of air pad, and the motor for spectrometer arm motion and motor for chamber rotation. These motors are possible to power on only when spectrometer arm is lifted up by air pad.

Note: motors related to Q-motoin are connected to PLC, so emergency stop for q-angle, located around door of the control room, will stop motion

How to move Q-motor

You can move Q-motion from quick gui.

  1. open valve for air pad

  2. wait for the air pad left the chamber

  3. turn on motor for spectrometer arm motion and Q-chmaber motion

  4. Input anlge want to go and press set putton or press enter key. 90 is perpendiculer to the beam and lower than 90 is forward scattering. It can move around +-60deg from 90 deg position.

Speed of Q-motion is slow for safety reason. However, Please keep eye on the motion and people around there while moving Q-angle.

How to recover when interlocked

Interlock for q-motion can be triggered by safety switch in q-chamber, emergengy stop switch near control room, and spectrometer arm floating sensor switch. in this case, it is possible to lift the spectrometer arm but Q-angle Motor axis is not moving at all.

If interlock is triggered, it is nessesary to do PLC reset.

  1. First, please check it is not physically hit something.

  2. Release emergengy stop switch if it is pressed.

  3. Lift the spectrometer arm by airpad in control system.

  4. reset PLC in control system.

  5. not it shound be possible to move Q-mition

If the problem persists, reach out to the floor coordinator or the local contact.
